Hospital Dreams is a web series that pairs an animator with child patients. With the guidance of the animator, child cancer patients are encouraged to reimagine their hospital rooms turning into something fantastical. Their imaginings are then brought to life in an animated short.

Hospital Dreams is a project of the artist Fiona Carswell, a digital storyteller whose work aims to cultivate empathy, autonomy, and the visualization of difficult topics. Fiona has over 10 years experience in digital storytelling and production, animation and illustration, and product design, and has extensive experience designing for the healthcare arena. A former graphic designer and animation instructor, she also has a masters from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) where her thesis focused on persuasive design for health. She was a 2010 Interactive Screens scholarship awardee at Banff New Media Institute. Fiona is currently the Director of Digital and UX Design at New York Public Radio (NYPR), though Hospital Dreams is a personal project unaffiliated with NYPR.
